Services
I have experience working with the following issues:
Anxiety
Are you feeling anxious but don't know why? Do you find yourself worrying a lot about your health, your job or your future? May be you feel something awful is about to happen that is out of your control? Or possibly you dread having to meet new people or interact with others at work or during social occasions with family and friends?
Counselling can help you identify the sources of your anxiety and develop effective strategies to manage the symptoms of anxiety in a manner that works for you.
Depression
Depression is a debilitating condition that can strike at any age. It can comprise of a broad range of symptoms such as feeling sad, tired or anxious and having low self esteem or low energy levels. Experiencing loss of motivation and interest in life, as well as having difficulty sleeping or waking early in the morning are common. Becoming easily irritated with loved ones is also to be expected.
If you feel you may be depressed and are experiencing some of these symptoms, talking with a professional who understands is a step in the right direction. A step that can help you find a way out of your depression.
Bereavement
Are you struggling to come to terms with the loss of a loved one? Have you recently been bereaved or have you been dealing with this pain for a long time? Even though bereavement is an inevitable part of life sometimes we can find ourselves stuck and in need of a little help
Bereavement counselling can help you make sense of what you are going through while at the same time help you to come to terms with the grieving process in a way and at a pace that suits you.
Pet Bereavement
Losing a beloved pet can be just as painful as the death of a family member or friend. Indeed pets often become our dear friends or part of the family. However, sometimes grieving pet owners may get the impression that their grief is less important or less challenging.
Having experienced pet bereavement myself I can reassure you that I will take your grief seriously. Pet bereavement counselling can help you to understand and progress through the grieving process in a gentle and respectful manner.
Body Image
Do you find it painful to look at yourself in the mirror? Do you feel your life would improve if you could change what you look like? Perhaps you find it difficult to accept compliments or may be you are older and have moved on in your life yet are still struggling to accept your appearance?
Counselling with the aid of CBT can help you to identify and explore the reasons and patterns of behaviour that have contributed to your negative body image and help you to develop a more peaceful relationship with how you look.
Men's Issues
Traditionally men are reluctant to come to counselling yet they can suffer just as much with as women with anxiety, depression or bereavement. As a male counsellor who has been through the counselling process, I recognise the level of courage a man requires to seek help.
If you are a man considering counselling I appreciate that in general men experience the counselling process differently than women. Therefore I will work with you in ways that both honour and respect your sense of masculinity.
Loss
Loss can occur in many ways. Some obvious losses include; loss of a relationship, loss of employment, a lost friendship, or the loss of a treasured possession.
Less obvious losses include; a lost opportunity, loss of motivation, loss of meaning or loss of hope. Sometimes we may lose our sense of direction in life.
Counselling can help to acknowledge loss in however it presents itself and come to terms with it in constructive and meaningful ways.
Relationship Issues
Let's face it, relationships can be hard work at times. Sometimes we may struggle to be heard or to interact effectively with our partners. Possibly we even hold different expectations of each other.
Counselling can help individuals become more aware of the challenges within their relationship while at the same time exploring alternative communication strategies in a safe and non pressurised environment.
Telephone Counselling Service
Telephone Counselling is an additional counselling service for clients whom I work with in person. You may be unable to make an appointment due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, or sudden work or family commitments. This service gives you an opportunity to continue with the work you have been doing in counselling in a different way. It can also be used if you need extra support before your next session.
Although it may seem a bit unusual at first to engage in counselling over the phone, it can be just as helpful and effective as meeting in person. Telephone Counselling can be arranged for a different time during the week or in the evening if it's more suitable.
Telephone Counselling Fees:
- Daytime session - €40
- Evening session - €50
You will not have to pay for the cost of the call, I will call you.
Fees are payable in person at the end of the next session or you can pay online via PayPal.
